I grew up without a computer and had very limited access to technology in any form while I was in elementary education. I really started to become technologically knowledgable during my first couple years of highschool after my parents decided to welcome the internet and at school, technology was all around me, including phones and ipods. I feel it is important to familiarize oneself with the technological advances of today because when it comes down to it, the future will be computer based and without that knowledge i dont think anyone can really adapt. Technology needs to be integrated into the classsroom as much as possible because technology is such a huge focus in the work enviornment and its inescapable. Students need to become technologically involved more so in the collegiate level i think because we didnt have the access when we were younger that middle school children have today.
